Principal's Message 2024

Hello Arvin High Students and Parents,

Welcome to the start of another awesome school year at Arvin High School. For those of you who are new to Arvin High, welcome to our Arvin High Bear Family! I am very excited to continue working with the students, staff, parents, and communities of Arvin High School but this time as the new principal. Arvin High School works towards building on the qualities our students and parents possess, such as a strong work ethic, multilingualism, thirst for knowledge, and rich cultural backgrounds to make our students academically successful. Our PRIDE expectations define what it means to be a Bear: Participation, Responsibility, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy, and our staff model and acknowledge the tenets of PRIDE to ensure our students understand how to incorporate these tenets not only at Arvin High School but in their community as well.

Arvin High is a “California Distinguished School” and was named an “Exemplary Dual Enrollment School” by the state. Arvin High’s long tradition of excellence stems from its many athletic and academic programs including championship athletic teams and state recognized academic teams, numerous dual enrollment offerings, 13 career and technical education pathways, and robust visual and performing arts offerings including our most recent additions with Mariachi and Ballet Folklorico. We encourage all students to take advantage of the many opportunities we offer on campus during the school day and before and after school.

At Arvin High, we work to ensure all students learn and thrive so that they can graduate high school and continue to college or are prepared for a career so that they can contribute positively to society and their local community. Our staff, counselors, and teachers are all committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for students that fosters learning and encourages students to pursue their interests and goals.

Parents and guardians, your support is extremely important. I encourage you to be actively involved in your child’s education and reach out to our staff with any questions or concerns. Together we can support our students and help them be successful, which will make our communities thrive and grow as well. Please take advantage of our parent meetings including Back-to-School Night on Aug. 26th, Parent University, and Pozole with the Principal along with visiting our Parent Center in Room 9.

I look forward to being on this journey with you and seeing all your successes. Remember that Arvin is Awesome!

Sincerely,

Dr. Gabriel Ramirez-Leyva

Principal, Arvin High School
