About Miss Liera

Welcome

My name is Miss Liera and I have been at Arvin High School since 2017. It has been the best experience that I could ever imagine as an educator.

Before becoming a teacher I worked 7 years in the newspaper/magazine industry. I enjoyed writing, taking photos and just being able to report on stories that happened in the Bakersfield community. But while I was a journalist, I was mentoring two high school students from Delano (my hometown), through a local organization that provides young women the ability to have positive female role models in their life. It was through this program that I realized that I wanted to have the opportunity to influence a young teens life. The rest is history and brings us to today.

I am the Activities Director and Business Department Head at Arvin High School. I teach the Intro to Business and Virtual Enterprise classes on campus. I truly believe that the skills you learn in business are universal---regardless of what career you choose after high school. I have a passion for teaching business and making it interesting for you, my students.

That same passion is also visible in my role as Activities Director. I love our school, campus and people! I live for school spirit and most importantly creating leaders on campus through my Associated Student Body team. My biggest goal is to have students develop into hardworking, passionate and determined individuals. ASB is fun but it's also a big commitment that comes with great rewards.

Let's bring our Bear energy together and have an awesome year!

P.S. I continue to have a passion for photography. You can check out some photos I've taken under the "Photos" Tab to the right to check them out in my travel journeys.

Always,
Miss Liera
